The rehabilitation process after stroke begins with acute inpatient rehabilitation, and often continues to outpatient therapy. This can include either traditional outpatient therapy or the Transitions Neurological Day Treatment Program specifically geared at functional community reentry. Outpatient therapy occurs in one of many satellite sites throughout the network (DC, MD,VA) with the ability to follow up with rehabilitation physicians. In addition, MedStar NRH offers a variety of support groups and activities for individuals to engage in following completion of traditional outpatient therapy. This includes Stroke Comeback Club (for stroke survivors and families), Aphasia Peer Mentorship Program and other various community events for individuals to participate in while continuing our mission of Adding Life to Years.®
