Nighttime diseases can cause daytime symptoms. On average patients with narcolepsy go undiagnosed for ten years. Those with sleep apnea take an average of seven years before being properly diagnosed. Sleep studies assist physicians in helping with the diagnosis. Patients can then be on their way to more restful sleep and a better quality of life.

Consider a possible sleep disorder if you exhibit one of more of the following:

  • Loud, irregular snoring
  • Witnessed apneas, choking or gasping
  • Frequent leg twitching
  • Unexplained or worsening heart failure or edema
  • Unexplained pulmonary hypertension
  • Difficulty in controlling hypertension
  • Fatigue, tiredness, or sleepiness
  • Depression or difficulty concentrating at work
  • Unusual behaviors while sleeping
