What is a Physiatrist and Physiatry Medicine?

A physiatrist (pronounced fizz-ee-at’ trist) is a medical physician who specializes in the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation. Physiatry is a specialized branch of medicine that addresses problems that touch upon all major systems in the body, using aggressive rehabilitation to promote the restoration of maximum function to people with problems ranging from simply physical mobility to complex cognitive functions.
