Occupational Therapy  services at MedStar National Rehabilitation Hospital promote independence and participation in activities of daily life.

  • ADLs such as bathing, dressing , grooming, toileting, feeding,
  • IADLs (instrumental activities of daily living) such as cooking, laundry, home management, money management, shopping, computer & phone access
  • Return to Leisure tasks
  • Functional transfers such as getting on/off toilet, in/out of shower & car
  • Functional community skills

Inpatient occupational therapy services include: 

  • Comprehensive Evaluations in order to determine patient centered goals
  • Individualized plan of care and customized interventions to address the physical, cognitive, visual-perceptual, and psycosocial aspects of performance impacting daily life.
  • Discharge planning
  • Equipment recommendations
  • Family/caregiver training and education
