WASHINGTON, D.C., – MedStar National Rehabilitation Network’s fitness and adaptive sports programs recently received a generous gift of $100,000 from the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation’s Expanded Effect Quality of Life grants program.

The gift will help MedStar National Rehabilitation Network purchase equipment for its weeknight and weekend fitness program, which allows those with disabilities to continue to stay active by using the equipment in the MedStar National Rehabilitation Hospital outpatient gym.

In addition, the grant will assist our many adaptive sports programs including wheelchair basketball, wheelchair rugby, handcycling, adaptive rowing, sled hockey and more.

“We would like to thank the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation Quality of Life team for this extremely generous gift for our adaptive athletes and those in the community we serve,” said John Rockwood, president, MedStar National Rehabilitation Network and senior vice president, MedStar Health. “Gifts such as these help our former patients and those in the community stay active through some of our sports programs or by simply having access to a gym that they might not normally have.”

MedStar National Rehabilitation Network is one of six institutions around the U.S., to receive one of these prestigious grants.
