FRIENDSHIP HEIGHTS, MD – Aug. 10, 2015 – MedStar Health Physical Therapy (MedStar NRH) is working with a company called PhysiMax, a startup company based in Israel to help youth athletes and weekend warriors who need rehabilitation with some technology to help identify pressure points, post-surgery to enable a faster rehabilitation process.
The PhysiMax device is a real-time device that allows physical therapists and sports medicine physicians the chance to review an athlete’s (weekend warrior or amateur/professional athlete) progress in rehabilitation by doing a series of movements and tests to see if they are doing better.
One test involves jumping off a box while a series of infrared buttons around the area of the injury shows a therapist on a computer screen, quickly, where pain may still be lingering on the patient.
This allows the athlete or weekend runner to return to activity or sports more quickly. The technology recently came to the MedStar NRH Network this summer and was built by graduate students from Georgia Tech University.
