Washington, D.C., July 9, 2015 — Washington Nationals mascot Screech recently made a surprise visit to pediatric patients at MedStar NRH and brightened their days. Screech spent time entertaining and playing with the children as well as handing out Nats goodies that brought laughter and smiles..
Screech’s visit was made possible by Mary Brick, a family friend of Carson Powell who is a patient in the pediatric unit. Carson is 12-years-old and was injured in a motor vehicle accident in June in Haymarket, VA. His rehabilitation has been going well and he’s able to walk better and better each day after suffering a broken leg in the accident. Carson loves baseball and during the visit Screech gave him a special autographed Bryce Harper bobblehead. The visit ended with high fives, hugs and group photos with the patients.
