ARLINGTON, VA – May 20, 2015 — MedStar National Rehabilitation Network (MedStar NRH) has opened its newest outpatient center in the Ballston area of Arlington, in the same location as Marymount University’s academic center for their physical therapy program. The new center, located at 4040 Fairfax Drive near Marymount’s main campus, brings MedStar NRH’s total number of outpatient network locations to nearly 50. The Marymount site is the 6th to date for the Network in Northern Virginia.
The MedStar Health Physical Therapy-Marymount University center offers patients in the surrounding community and Marymount staff and students various physical and occupational therapy services for conditions such as concussion; foot and ankle injuries; orthopaedic injuries; running injuries; spine conditions and injuries; and general sports medicine.
Additionally, sports medicine physicians with MedStar NRH will work closely with Marymount’s student athletes to support their athletic teams as well as the Student Health Center. Marymount physical therapy students will also be able to train and be mentored at the center.
“MedStar NRH will support the training of Marymount’s physical therapy students, establish a scholarship program, and provide opportunities for clinical rotations across the Network to support Marymount University’s mission and academic program,” says John Brickley, MedStar Health Physical Therapy, Vice President of Ambulatory Operations and Network Development. “We also get to know the next generation of therapists, and they get to know us.”
John Rockwood, President of the MedStar National Rehabilitation Network and Senior Vice President, MedStar Health says “this collaboration will help train the next generation of physical therapists.”
An open house was held at the new center on Tuesday, May 19. Marymount began seeing patients earlier this year.
