Latino Stroke Support Group 4th Thursday of Each Month - Informational Group for Spanish-speaking People Who Have Suffered a Stroke or Brain Injury from Stroke
Attention Spanish-speaking people in the Washington, D.C. area: MedStar National Rehabilitation Network will be holding monthly meetings of the Latino Stroke Support Group on the 4th Thursday of each month. Meetings take place at the Latin American Youth Center (1419 Columbia Road, NW, Washington, DC 20009).
The MedStar National Rehabilitation Network, together with speech, physical, and occupational therapists, has designed the group to offer information, advice and support to people who have suffered a stroke or other illnesses related to the brain. Some topics that will be presented in an effort to help survivors return to their prior life activities are: nutrition and eating right after a stroke, access to doctors and stroke prevention, depression, coping with stress, and community resources, among others.
The meeting will be conducted in Spanish and family members are welcome to join. Snacks and drinks will be provided as well.

Inpatient and day treatment programs are provided at MedStar National Rehabilitation Hospital located in Northwest Washington, DC and at more than 40 outpatient sites conveniently located throughout the region.
